The House of Culture of Sertã receives, on November 23 (Saturday), the ninth edition of the Eugenia Lima Gala, from 21h30m. Promoted by the Sertã City Council, this annual initiative aims to honor accordionist Eugénia Lima and promote the accordion, a typical instrument of Portuguese Popular Music. This edition will feature several renowned guests such as the Ciranda project with accordionist Inês Vaz and trumpeter Gileno Santana, Francisco Monteiro, Catarina Brilha and Jose Claudio, Vasco Miguel, David Antunes and João Miguel, praising the quality and versatility of this musical instrument. conveying the legacy of the “Accordion Diva”. Born in Castelo Branco in 1926, Eugénia Lima started her artistic life at the age of four at the Vaz Preto Theater in Castelo Branco. Throughout his career, he made several shows, both in Portugal and abroad, as well as on television. A graduate of the Accordion College (teacher category) from the Accordion Conservatory of Paris, Eugenia Lima founded the Albicastrense Typical Orchestra, recorded numerous albums and composed themes for a number of renowned artists. She was honored with several awards and distinctions, including the “Oscar de la Press” (1962), “Lady of the Military Order of Santiago da Espada” (1980), Honorary Diploma awarded by the National Union of Accordionists of France (1984), “Cultural Merit” (1986) and “Grand Officer of the Order of Infante D. Henrique” (1995). Passed away on April 4, 2014. Scheduled for Saturday, November 23rd, at 9.30 pm, the Eugenia Lima Gala has free admission. Will feature the presentation of Graça Silva.
