On November 17, Sunday, Alameda da Carvalha, in Sertã, receives another edition of the monthly "Products of the Earth" market, this time dedicated to "Cakes of All Saints". In Portugal, on All Saints Day (November 1) the children go out to the street to order the cookies, door to door. "Cupcakes, Cupcakes in Praise of the Saints" is the phrase repeatedly recited, after which they receive bread, breads, cakes, pomegranates and nuts, nuts, almonds or chestnuts, which they put into their cloth bags, in a tradition whose origins date back to the 15th century.
The November edition highlights sweet snacks, among other typical delicacies of the time, and can also be purchased vegetables, processed and handicrafts, an initiative of the Municipality of Sertã. Will count on the animation of the group Joy and Company, from 16 hours.
The "Products of the Earth" market will take place at Alameda da Carvalha, in Sertã, between 10 am and 5 pm. It is based on a logic of proximity between the citizen and the regional producers: those looking for quality products can do so in a nearby place without resorting to large areas. Registrations (from producers) are made at the Casa da Cultura da Sertã, immediately after the completion of each market and until the last day of each month.
